Long-term predictions for La Liga and Greek Super League
In this article we have combined 2 long-term predictions for the whole season from two different championships. The two forecasts are combined into a accumulator slip to form a higher odds. We have solid arguments that Atletico Madrid and Olympiacos will have a strong season in their respective championships.
Predictions and analysis for winners in La Liga and Super League
Atletico Madrid have sold Griezmann, but we do not think that this will seriously affect the team. Anyway, in many of the games last season, he was not key and even had weak periods. The big talent, Joao Felix’s, was the replacement. All the defense was also replaced. For the first time in a long time, Atletico Madrid looks like a new, fresh team, ready for battle and very motivated. Our prediction here is Atlético to finish above all if we exclude Barcelona and Real Madrid from the championship. We do not think Sevilla or Valencia can finish ahead of Atletico.
Simeone’s experience and Atletico’s class are too great. They are almost invincible at home, and as a guest they can defend great and win their matches 1-0. Atletico rarely finished outside the top 3 simply because this team has a built style of play and it is very effective once they have the right players to practice it. This brings dividends for Simeone and may even be expected to interfere in the title fight. However, last year they were the main contender after Barcelona.
Olympiacos is the biggest and most decorated team in Greece. With their 29 titles, they dominate as Panathinaikos has nearly 2 times fewer of them. The other big name in Greece is AEK Athens. But Panathinaikos has not been at the right level in recent years, and AEK became the year before. Olympiacos’s main competitor at the moment, however, is PAOK, who took their 3rd title last season. Olympiacos’ dominance was 7 straight league titles before being suspended in the last 2 seasons. To regain their glory, they have stepped up very seriously in the transfer market.
More importantly, this is the second season for Pedro Martins, and this coach has many qualities. In the first campaign, Olympiacos was supposed to play, but now progress is visible and you can even compare it with their Champions League matches before entering the groups where they have conceded only 1 goal for the whole 6 qualifying matches. PAOK have a new coach who has no experience, and they sold their main striker last year without replacing him. We think the time has come for Olympiacos to return to the top and their fluctuations from recent years have probably remained in the past.
