France should be careful with this opponent
Looking at how both teams have played so far at Euro 2024, I think France will have possession of the ball most of the time, but Portugal will have their chances on counterattacks. France hasn’t scored any normal goals yet. They won 1-0 against Austria after an own goal by the Austrians. Then they played a goalless draw against the Netherlands, and in the last group stage game, it was 1-1 against Poland with Mbappe scoring from the penalty spot. And finally, in the eighth-finals, it was again a late own goal for the 1-0 win over Belgium. Mbappé was often in on the scoring chances but missed.
I expect a cautious game
Obviously, this top half of the draw is far stronger. In my opinion, it is extremely difficult to predict this clash from a 1×2 market perspective. Both teams are better defensively. The bottom line is that these two squads are full of superstars, however, the long season for them at some of the world’s best clubs has obviously left consequences. Rather than some great, offensive-oriented soccer, we won’t see as many situations. My prediction in this match is Under 8.5 Spot Kicks at odds of 1.72.
