Tottenham will rely on set pieces.
This has been the trend in the new Premier League season. Tottenham seem to have the players and have quickly adapted to this style — in their last league match against Everton, central defender Van de Ven scored twice from set pieces. However, against the “Toffees”, Tottenham’s overall performance was far from convincing, and the team was lucky not to concede a goal. In the matches before that, the “Spurs” also didn’t show consistent form. We expect an aggressive approach from Tottenham and for them to focus on taking advantage of set-piece situations against Chelsea, who have been struggling to defend them.
Chelsea are having serious defensive issues.
Enzo Maresca’s side are one of the weakest in dealing with set pieces and aerial duels. The absence of young defensive leader Levi Colwill is clearly felt. The team continues to make easy, unforced errors in almost every game and often has to compensate by scoring in attack. Fortunately for Chelsea, the attacking quality is there. The team traditionally performs very well against Tottenham and is currently on a four-match winning streak against the “Spurs.”
A tough battle awaits us.
One of the biggest London derbies. Recently, Chelsea have had the upper hand in this rivalry, but this time Tottenham will be looking for revenge. Both teams have been far from solid defensively and often make up for it with attacking quality. We expect a fierce battle, strong tackles, set pieces, and goals.
