Real Madrid should not allow the surprise
Real Madrid basically did their job in the first game. You have to admit it – nobody is as cool-headed and has the character as Real Madrid in the Champions League, because to go to Anfield and make a comeback from 0-2 to 5-2 shows qualities that I personally can’t think of another team to possess. Liverpool almost never lose at Anfield in any form. Since that success, however, Real have recorded several unconvincing results including a loss at home in the El Clasico for the Cup, and a torrid draw with Atletico at home in the derby after playing half an hour with a man more.
The Reds are certainly much more confident after the historic defeat to Man United
Liverpool, even if they don’t knock out Real Madrid, are now certainly in a far better position in the battle for the top four. It’s been a poor season for the Reds without any doubt, certainly the weakest since Klopp came in, but it looks as if the rebuilding and improvement is already in sight. Yes, there will be more poor performances and poor results for the rest of the season, but the mood in the team is better and the attack is starting to work very well, which certainly gives confidence. Furthermore, this historic success over Man United will certainly reflect very well on the Reds in the coming weeks.
Liverpool have nothing to lose in this game
Last season, Real Madrid beat Chelsea 3-1 away, then collapsed at home and conceded 3 goals against the Blues. At 0-3 in the last 10 mins Real pulled one goal back and then in extra time pulled away. Something they did the rest of the tournament to win it after that. However, this, and the last few unconvincing games, are proof that Liverpool haven’t completely lost their chances. I’m expecting a very open game because Liverpool are chasing a 3-goal difference and have nowhere to guard. They need to play this game in one breath and throw everything at it. With this extremely shaky defense and a rusty attacking team, my prediction is BTTS + Over 2.5 goals at 1.80.
